About this product
Four tools cut from solid moso bamboo, each finished with a rounded rather than a pointed end. That rounding is the whole design decision: a pointed pick is what turns a routine into an injury, and every end here is deliberately blunt enough that it cannot be pushed anywhere it should not go.
Bamboo rather than steel because it is warmer to hold, does not conduct cold, and can be washed and air dried without corroding. The case is hinged bamboo with a moulded tray, so the tools travel without knocking against each other. Non-electronic, with nothing to charge and nothing to replace.

An everyday outer-ear routine
These are outer-ear tools. The most useful thing on this page is the boundary in step one, so read that before anything else.

Outer ear only, never the canal
These tools are for the visible folds of the outer ear. Nothing goes into the ear canal. The canal clears itself, and pushing anything into it is how people cause the problem they were trying to avoid.

Work in good light, slowly
A mirror and a bright lamp. If you cannot see what you are doing, stop rather than working by feel.

Light contact, short strokes
The rounded end should glide over skin without pressing into it. If you feel resistance, move rather than push.

Wash and air dry before casing
Warm soapy water, rinse, and let the bamboo dry fully. Bamboo stored damp will eventually split.

- Do not insert any tool into the ear canal.
- Stop immediately if you feel pain, and do not use these on an ear that is sore, draining or inflamed.

- Can I use these inside the ear canal?
- No. They are outer-ear tools. The canal is self-clearing and nothing in this catalog belongs inside it.
- Why bamboo rather than stainless steel?
- It is warmer in the hand, it does not conduct cold, and it can be washed and air dried without corroding. It also cannot be sharpened, which we consider a feature.
- Are the ends really blunt?
- Yes, deliberately. A pointed pick is what turns a routine into an injury, so every end here is rounded and sanded.
- What if my ear hurts or is blocked?
- Then this is not the product for it. Ear pain, drainage or a change in hearing belongs with a licensed clinician rather than with a tool from a drawer.
