About this product
Plugs with a mechanical acoustic filter in the stem rather than a solid plug body. Foam and silicone both cut high frequencies far harder than low ones, which is why music through ordinary plugs sounds muffled and bass-heavy. A filter is a small chamber and membrane that evens that out, so what you hear is quieter rather than duller.
Two interchangeable filter strengths are included, at roughly 17 dB and 23 dB of attenuation. The plug body is soft silicone with a low-profile stem so the filter sits flush rather than protruding. A vented aluminium case and a keyring clip come with them, because a plug left at home protects nobody.

Fitting protection into a day
Filtered plugs need a decision about strength and one habit about when to put them in.

Put them in before it gets loud
Before the support act, before the saw starts, before the engine. Putting plugs in after your ears are already ringing is the most common mistake there is.

Start with the lighter filter
The 17 dB filter is enough for most bars, rehearsal rooms and small venues, and it keeps conversation possible. Move to 23 dB for amplified concerts and power tools.

Seat them gently and check the seal
Push until the body is seated and the stem is flush. You should hear the level drop evenly rather than everything going muffled; muffled usually means the filter is blocked or the plug is only half in.

Wash the bodies, keep the filters dry
The silicone bodies wash in warm soapy water. The filters must stay dry — water in a filter chamber ruins the acoustic response.
